Pam Popper: Rules for Research

The Liberty Hat

  1. Know the Author: Who wrote it? Who funded it? What bias and/or conflict of interest does the author have?

  2. Correlation vs. Cause and Effect: Correlation is not indicative of causation.

  3. Preponderance of the Evidence: Don't rely on any single study.

Pam does a great job of explaining it all. Most importantly, she emphasizes DOING YOUR OWN RESEARCH on ANY decision you make, and not relying on your doctor or the news media to do it for you. Best advice of all, especially coming from a doctor.
